Dear Parents,

If your child is about to join us for the first time, we welcome you as parents and look forward to a happy and successful association over the coming years. If you already have a child here we are pleased to renew the links between us. If you are an interested member of the community, we welcome your support.

The information on this site explains our philosophy, aims and organisation. We firmly believe that the recipe for success in school is a strong partnership between home and school. Together we share the responsibility for the all-round development of your child.

The overall aim of our school is to develop each child as an individual; socially, emotionally, physically, spiritually and academically by providing a happy, secure and stimulating environment.  We aim to help our pupils increase self-confidence and to build lively, enquiring minds enabling each to reach their potential. Confidence in the school comes from knowing and understanding what is happening within it, and we hope our website will give you a flavour of life at St Luke’s School.   We have lots of fun as well as striving hard, to help our children get the most from their education.

We hope you will extend your knowledge of the school through contact and discussion with members of staff, Governors and me. We also look forward to welcoming you to our plays, fetes, sports day and other social activities.

If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

ADMISSIONS: WHO CAN COME TO ST. LUKE’S SCHOOL?

The school serves pupils who live in the vicinity of St. Luke’s. As we are a Church of England Aided school, children from outside the area can also be considered. The building has been adapted for wheelchair use. Full details of our admissions policy and catchment area can be obtained from the school.

Children start school in the academic year in which they are five. Children and parents are welcome to visit the school at any time. During the Summer Term we arrange a series of special visits when children meet their new teachers and classmates.

SPECIAL NEEDS

At St. Luke’s we are determined to meet the educational needs of all our pupils. The school caters for the needs for all pupils with special educational needs with or without statements. All teachers plan, set and mark work that is appropriate and relevant to the individual needs of pupils. The school has adopted the four-staged model of special educational needs assessment and provision recommended by Cambs. L.A. Our Inclusion Manager, Anna Perry, is responsible for overseeing assessment and provision.

Pupils with special educational needs are encouraged to become increasingly independent and take responsibility within the school.
