 CURRICULUM

At St Luke’s School we:

·        Provide a broad, balanced curriculum that is relevant to your children and their life experiences;
·        Encourage effective use of language, mathematical and ICT skills, throughout the curriculum and within the Literacy and Numeracy frameworks;
·        Equip children with scientific, historical, geographical and social skills that will enable them to begin to understand and care for the world we live in;
·        Encourage the physical, artistic and creative growth of each child;
·        Develop an awareness and appreciation of the opinions, beliefs and needs of others.

 By the time children leave St Luke’s School we intend that they will be skilful, confident, independent learners

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

In planning our religious education we use an agreed syllabus produced by the Diocese of Ely. Our R.E. lessons are broad and inclusive, but you have the right to withdraw your child from these lessons if you wish. Assemblies are acts of worship that enable to restate the moral values by which we live, celebrate festivals and personal, group and community successes. You also have the right to withdraw your child from assembly.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment is a very important part of our work with pupils and parents. Teachers use a variety of different types of assessment and keep detailed records on each pupil. Parents may see these records; please contact your child’s class teacher to arrange this.

Foundation Stage Profiles are carried out throughout Reception. In Year 2 and Year 6 pupils take the statutory national SATs tests. In other junior years, non-statutory assessments are carried out, which allows us to track individual children’s progress throughout their school life.
