ORGANISATION
The number of pupils at our school is about 180 and they are divided into seven classes, according to age.
We are fortunate in having many other adults who are employed to offer extra help in the classrooms. To support the seven class teachers we have a part-time (60%) teacher, who works alongside them, teaching groups of children with special educational needs. Another part-time teacher enhances music provision in the school. We are also fortunate to have a part-time (40%) teacher to help pupils who have English as their second language. All our children benefit from the richness of support they can offer.
DISCIPLINE
School rules are kept to a minimum and those we have are to help make life at school enjoyable for everyone. We expect and require the children to behave in a polite and courteous manner, thereby creating a happy and secure atmosphere within the school. We place emphasis on the development of self-discipline and believe this is best developed by a positive attitude and example.
We have a booklet for parents called ‘Hand in Hand’ which explains fully how everyone at St. Luke’s works together. Agreed codes of behaviour are displayed throughout the building to remind children.
If there is any concern about your child’s behaviour we will contact you. Similarly, if you have any case for concern, please contact us.
